Luis Hernandez

Luis Hernandez has a 28-year background in professional figure skating. A living legacy in both his sport and athletic well being, at age 19 he defied his medical diagnosis of early retirement by adopting new, science-based training methods.

His unusual coach, biomechanics specialist Pamela Aven, guided him to win six consecutive National Championships and represent his country at four World Championships.

Retiring in 2017, Luis aimed to coach using the same scientific methods.

However, he found that some sport centers have policies with a historic foundation in misinformation and implement best practices behind the curve of performance science. This left a gap between his coaching and center policies.

His desire for complementary business within sport ignited the standards division of Lasso Safe. 

Currently, Luis is CFO of Lasso Safe and contributes to the research and education for best practice standards. News and advocacy platforms such as The Union Tribune and Athlete Soul have featured Luis' comeback story.
